STO Tax Credits:
In 1997 the Arizona State Legislature enacted ARS 43-1089, the Arizona Private School Tuition Tax Credit Law. Subsequently the Arizona Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of this law. In the years 1998-2006 Arizona citizens have donated more that $240 million to help pay tuition for students at private schools pursuant to this law. In the process, the state of Arizona has saved millions of dollars by not having to bear the cost of educating thousands of students who might otherwise have attended public schools.

I invite you to make a contribution to one of the many school tuition organizations (STOs) and thereby receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit, not just a deduction, against your Arizona state income tax. In effect what you are doing in directing your tax liability to student scholarships. Listed below are STOs who support students at WCA. The maximum contribution per year available for the credit is $1000 for a married couple filing jointly, or $500 for a single person filing individually.

Because this is a tax credit, you have the opportunity under Arizona law to direct a portion of what would otherwise be a state income tax payment to ultimately help a child pay tuition at WCA, which greatly benefits both the child and Arizona’s taxpayers. You may recommend WCA specifically with the STO you submit your contribution through. You may even recommend a specific student at WCA and the recommendation will be considered by the selection committee of the STO which has complete discretion in making award decisions.

The contribution is made through the STO and not WCA. Please do not send your STO donation to WCA. You may submit your donation on line or through the mail to the STO of your choice. Additional information is available at the WCA office upon request.
