As you may know, funding from the Wellik Foundation provided a means for WCA's tech infrastructure to get a massive makeover to accommodate the growing tech needs of the school.  The network that was installed in 2011 to launch Legacy High School was simply no longer adequate and could not provide the connectivity required for several concurrent live video conferences and multiple devices across campus.  The new network has increased capacity for 200+ devices (up from 23).  During the transition, internet access has been restricted to computers/devices essential for instruction and programming.  That restriction will eventually be loosened with "guest" access being granted for more devices.  In general terms, connectivity in the Office and the Secondary buildings has been priority. Access in other buildings will follow soon.  The 16 units in the new computer lab are connected but require further configuration to be fully functional.  Two new servers, several switches and a new firewall have been installed, and the transition from Wifi to fiber is being made to most of the buildings on campus. 

As you can tell, significant progress has been made on the infrastructure upgrades, and we are very close to having a fully functional and very capable campus network with secure and reliable internet access. Although progress has been slower than planned, the changes have been significant and the results will allow us to take WCA/Legacy to new levels with regard to safety, security, communications and accessibility to available resources.  Thanks for the patience from all who have muddled through this project with us and have been affected by the changes.  Special thanks to Sheri Fucili and WCA parents Donald Brown and Shawn Clark who have invested countless hours to make the project a reality.  The end is in sight and all the construction dust will be well worth it!
